THE MATERIAL

Material construction.

polyester nonwoven fabric with polyacrylate swelling powder.

Polyacrylate powder absorbs incoming water and swells into a gel, helping close internal water paths after sheath damage. The nonwoven wrap also provides bedding and separation. This non-conductive construction is used where a semi-conductive interface is not required.

01Swellable barrier

Absorbs incoming water to limit longitudinal movement.

02Single-sided construction

Useful where a single active face suits the interface.

03Non-conductive carrier

For layers where semi-conductivity is not required.

Thermal values describe material stability, not a finished-cable temperature rating. Thickness: ISO 9073-2; tensile / elongation: ISO 9073-3; swelling: GB 450; moisture: ISO 287. Mass per unit area: ISO 9073-1. Short-term stability: Q/TR.J02.031-2000; long-term stability: IEC 216.

MATERIAL SELECTION

Choosing the right construction.

Choose single-sided tape where one active face suits the cable interface. Check orientation and compare grade build and swelling with double-sided laminate; thickness alone does not determine performance. Use a semi-conductive grade where conductive contact is required.

Related water-blocking materials.

Tape wraps broader cable surfaces; yarn targets internal gaps. A combined system can address both.

Application and processing.

Select overlap, tension and swelling allowance to suit the gap and cable design. Validate the complete cable for pressure, water chemistry and temperature. Salt-water duties need specific qualification.

Store sealed, clean and dry. Product imagery is representative.
