Double-sided semi-conductive
water-blocking tape.
Covered swellable laminate for power cable interfaces requiring semi-conductivity.
BLACK SEMI-CONDUCTIVE NONWOVENMaterial construction.
Semi-conductive polyester nonwoven fabric with polyacrylate swelling powder and corrosion inhibitor.
Polyacrylate powder absorbs incoming water and swells into a gel, helping close internal water paths after sheath damage. The nonwoven wrap also provides bedding and separation. The semi-conductive carrier is used where the cable design requires a conductive interface.
Absorbs incoming water to limit longitudinal movement.
Covering helps retain swelling powder during handling.
Specified surface resistance of ≤1500 Ω.

Thermal values describe material stability, not a finished-cable temperature rating. Thickness: ISO 9073-2; tensile / elongation: ISO 9073-3; swelling: GB 450; moisture: ISO 287. Electrical properties: GB 3048. Short-term stability: Q/TR.J02.01-2000; long-term stability: IEC 216-1990.
Choosing the right construction.
Choose double-sided laminate when a covered structure and bedding are priorities. Single-sided grades suit interfaces where one active face is sufficient; compare thickness, swelling and handling. Use semi-conductive grades only where the electrical design requires them.

Tape wraps broader cable surfaces; yarn targets internal gaps. A combined system can address both.

Application and processing.
Select overlap, tension and swelling allowance to suit the gap and cable design. Validate the complete cable for pressure, water chemistry and temperature. Salt-water duties need specific qualification.
